NYX Makeup Haul
I use many different brands of makeup both personally and professionally. Basically, as long as they are good quality and cruelty free I will give them a try. Many people associate expensive products with quality and low cost drugstore brands as poor quality, but that is not always the case. There are plenty of drugstore brands that offer great quality products at reasonable prices.
One case in point is NYX, which let's face it are really cheap, but they offer surprisingly good quality products and are cruelty free. Obviously not every product is great, even the most expensive brands have quality differences between products but they are certainly worth trying out.
I had a coupon for 15% discount online at NYX, so I decided to take advantage and purchase some products to try out. I wanted to try the baked blush and the lip liners in particular as they seemed to get great reviews. As they are priced so great I was able to get quite a few items without breaking the bank. This is what I purchased.
Baked Blush: They do 12 different shades in this product and I planned on trying them all, however at the time I ordered them online only 7 were in stock. These are the colours and how NYX describe them.
Spanish Rose - Iridescent pink.
Solstice - Medium tan with pink sheen
Full on Femme - Light pink with silver sheen
Chiffon - Iridescent highlight
Foreplay - Pink with gold shimmer
Journey - Soft pink
Wanderlust - Iridescent peach
Lip Liners: I decided to get the Slim Lip Pencils of which there about 50 colours. Again I was very restricted which colour choice I could have as many were out of stock, so I made do with the following:
Sand Pink - Fuschia pink
Auburn - Burgundy
Pinky - Strawberry pink
Edge Pink - Magenta
Beige - Mid-tone beige
Citrine - Pearly mauve-pink
Dolly Pink - Bright Barbie pink
I also wanted to order a few of their new matte lipsticks called Lip Lingerie as they seemed to be getting quite a bit of hype, but, yes you've guessed it, they were out of stock, not just a few, but all of them. So instead I decided to try out the matte lipstick they offer called, wait for it, Matte Lipstick! I decided to try just the one, so went for a inoffensive pink shade called Tea Rose which is described as mauve-pink. Another tryout, this time for the eyes was the Felt Tip Liner in Extreme Black.
Lastly I had to give the Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette a try. I did not buy this online with the other items, instead I found this when I was in my local Shoppers Drug Mart looking for the products that were out of stock online. I did not find the missing items, but did find this. It looked so pretty and as I had enough points to purchase it for free I though what the heck. It has seven shades ideal for strobing and general highlighting.
I will use all of these products over the coming weeks and months and report back on their effectiveness.
