Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask Review and Photos

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask Review and Photos

I tend to get very dry lips, so like to have some sort of balm, gloss etc on them. The trouble is I find most tend to be sticky and make my lips feel tacky, which I hate. Some I find, can actually be drying. I know this sounds odd, but I think  the more you use some of the lip products the dryer your lips feel. I’m sure this must be some sort of marketing ploy!

I first came across this lip balm from Bite Beauty via a sample I received from Sephora. It contained a small sample of the three different colours available for this product: Smashed, Champagne and Original. I tried them out and was impressed enough to buy a full sized product. My biggest problem was which shade to choose.

Champagne is a shimmer shade which is a gold/pink colour. On my lips is gave a shimmer, but hardly any colour. Original is very similar to Champagne, but with less shimmer. Again on my lips it was hard to see it other than the slight sheen. The Smashed shade is described as a candy apple red with a satin finish and this is the one I decided to buy.

The balm comes in a tube and you have to pierce the top with the lid to access the product. Squeezing the tube to get the product out can take some pressure as it is very thick and takes its sweet time coming out of the tube - but it is worth the squeezing and waiting!

Bite says it is “A soothing, leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture in lips. This innovative, natural formula smooths, nourishes, and moisturizes lips with a bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and triple the amount of antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine.”

Well, first off the colour is great as it gives enough of a tint to be visible on my lips without looking unnatural. It literally brings out the pinky-red of my natural lip color and I love that. If you want a deeper colour just add more as it can be built up for a more opaque look.

Secondly, the formula feels and tastes great. Although it probably isn’t a good idea to have great tasting lip balm as you might be tempted to lick it off, it does have a lovely subtle vanilla taste.

I hate my lips feeling sticky and this balm doesn’t. It makes lips feel moist and hydrated and since using it have not had any instances of chapped or dry lips. I find myself applying this when I go out instead of lipstick as it lasts longer, feels better and has enough of a tint to make my lips look healthy and glowing.

At $30 CND, it is very expensive for lip balm, but you only need a very tiny amount each time. I have been using my tube for a couple of months now, pretty much daily and I have about two thirds left, so it really does last a long time. I absolutely will buy this again and will probably buy the champagne shade just for a change every now and again.

If I had to find something to criticize it would be that there is no applicator. You need to apply with your finger which means you are left with a coloured, sticky finger after application which is annoying, but a very small inconvenience for such a great product.
