Boxycharm November 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions
I honestly didn't think I was going to get this Boxycharm as it is nearly the end of the month and it seemed to be missing in action, but finally, here it is.
The theme this month is Sweater Weather, and it certainly is here in Calgary, Canada. So, let's take a look at the goodies inside this box.
Cover FX - Illuminating Setting Spray
According to Boxycharm, this is a quick-drying setting spray that sets makeup for all day wear and imparts instant, all-over illumination. It's alcohol free, so it's not drying to the skin. Perfect for all skin tones and types.
I'm not a great one for setting sprays. I've tried a few and they never seem to make very much difference, but I will try this out and let you know. Value $31 USD.
KNC Beauty - Collagen Lip Masks
This is a jelly mask that you can use to moisturize your lips and improve your pout! Looking at these through the packet, they look huge. You have to leave them on for 15-20 minutes too, which might be a bit of a chore! Value $15 USD.
Laqa & Co - Cloud Lips
This is a matte lipstick and the shade I got was called Storm. This is much too dark for me, so another lippy that will not be used. Please Boxycharm, stop sending me lipsticks, especially matte, dark ones! There, rant over! Value $17 USD.
Luxie Beauty - Quad Eye Travel Set
When I saw a spoiler for this box and it mentioned Luxie brushes, I was quite excited. I have a couple of Luxie brushes and they seem to work very well. However, I missed the bit where it says travel set and was quite shocked to see how small these brushes are. I've put a quarter in the photo so you can see the size. I guess they are perfect for what they are designed for, travel, but I doubt that these will replace any of my existing brushes. Value $32 USD.
Winkylux - Kitten Palette
Anyone who loved cats and kittens will probably love this palette. The small cardboard palette seems well made and is of course covered in kitten faces. The magnetic latch is pretty strong, but there is no mirror or brush inside.
There are nine shades in the palette in matte, satin, glitter and holographic finishes. I will do a full review with swatches of this in another post once I've used them a few times. Value $25 USD.
Overall, I'm not blown over by this box, but neither am I disappointed. I will try out the setting spray and the lip thingies, but the lipstick is a no go for me. Way too dark! The palette looks like it might be a good range of shades. I've never used this brand before, so I will be interested to see how it performs.
The Luxie brushes were disappointingly small, but that was my fault for not reading the spoilers correctly, otherwise they look okay. So, overall, of the items that I like and will use I have my money's worth, as the box only cost $21 USD.
Looking forward to seeing what's in December's box, hopefully something extra special for the holidays.
