Boxycharm October 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions

I think this is the latest I've ever received my Boxycharm, so I was eager to unbox it to see my goodies. This months theme is Spellbound, which baring in mind it's October and therefore Halloween, is I suppose appropriate.

I would have hoped to get some Halloween type items, perhaps a fun eyeshadow palette or something similar, but no, none of the items are what I would associate with Halloween. Oh well, let's take a look.

Dr. Brandt - PoreDermabrasion

A few boxes ago I received the microdermabrasion from Dr. Brandt and was very pleased with it. This is once again a full-size product and you use it in the same way as the other one. Lather with water, rub into the skin for a minute or two, leave and then rinse.

I have only used this once, but so far, so good. It left my skin feeling very soft, although I didn't notice any difference in my pores, but hopefully with regular use that will change. Retail value $58 USD.

Becca - Shimmer Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter

The first thing I noted about this is the luxury feel of the compact. The brown bottom and edge are made of really tactile what I assume is plastic and is very soft feeling, almost like velvet It had a brushed silver centre and looks and feels very good quality.

Inside the compact has a good size mirror and the highlighter is a beautiful golden shade and is very creamy to use. It just glides on and I'm sure will be a favorite of mine. Swatch at end of review. Retail Value $38 USD.

ncLA - Nailed it Tool Kit

I am always manicuring my nails so this should have been a good item for me. The issue I had was with the scissors as when I first used them the two ends crossed over and would not cut my nails. They are very flimsy and cheap feeling. The other items are fine, but I will probably just throw the scissors away. Retail value $18 USD.

tarte - Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint

Anyone familiar with my blog will know my dislike of matte liquid lipstick. They seem to appear in every box and as much as I try to escape them, there they are. This is one by tarte, so I'm sure it's good quality, but it won't be worn by me, sorry! Swatch at end of review. Value $20 USD.

Jonteblu - Lip Liner Pencil

And another lip pencil. This is another item that seems to crop up in a lot of boxes. It seemed to glide on smoothly but did not match the lipstick. This is perhaps a little dark for my taste but seems like a reasonably decent quality item. Swatch at end of review. Value $5 USD.

Conclusion

I'm not overwhelmed with this month's Boxycharm. I love the Dr. Brandt and the Becca highlighter, but the rest of the items will go into my never to be used box. However, at $21 it is still great value and more than makes up for the cost of the two items I love which is just short of $100 USD. The total value of the box is $139 USD, so for anyone who loves the lip products too, it is excellent.

Can't wait for next months box.
