Dior Rouge Lipstick Review, Swatches and Looks
I chose to receive a sample set of Dior Rouge lipsticks from Sephora with a recent order. It was a free gift item and I was quite surprised by the generous sample that arrived.
It came in a red card envelope with the CD (Christian Dior) in black on the front. Inside were four generous lipstick samples with a small lip brush. The samples were in blister packs encased in a card envelope (another one). The foil backing peels off to reveal the lipstick but they can be placed back in the cardboard envelope to keep clean and dry.
The four lipsticks included are:
772 Classic Matte
136 Delicate matte
787 Exuberant Matte
I am not normally a fan of matte lipsticks as they seem to dry my lips out and I find them uncomfortable to wear. I really want to like matte and it always looks nice, but they just don’t suit me, but I wanted to give these samples a try anyway.
I have to say that they apply onto the lips really nicely. As they are blister pack samples I used a lip brush to apply them, but not the one included in the pack. The lipstick went on smoothly and cleanly and I was able to get a clean edge without the use of liners. When it is initially applied it feels very moist, but this is often the case with matte lipstick and then it dries out and suddenly my lips feel awful. However, this lipstick did not have that effect. It stayed feeling moist even though it clearly looked matte.
I wore my first application for over three hours before it really started to fade and even then it faded pretty evenly and left a slight stain on the lips, so my lips never went truly “naked.” My lips felt really comfortable the whole time and I was really pleased with it. Eating and drinking did impact the lipstick and this needs to be avoided if you want it to last without touch ups, especially eating.
Overall I am really pleasantly surprised by this lipstick. It is, without doubt, the most comfortable matte lipstick I’ve worn so far and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase a full-size version, although at $43 CND it is on the expensive side. But I guess you get what you pay for!
