My April 2017 Boxycharm Unboxing
So, this month the theme for Boxycharm is Boho Glow and as you would expect it includes a highlighter amongst other things. I had previously seen some spoilers and to be honest the promised contents didn’t fill me with my usual positive vibes for the box, but let’s take a better look.
PUR - Blend Squad: 3-Piece Contour Blending Sponges
This was a plastic bag with three blending sponges in shades of yellow, green and pink. As you can see from the photo they are basically egg shaped with a flat surface on one side. As with most beauty sponges, they can be used either dry or damp and are washable and reusable. The set retails for $36 USD.
I like using a sponge to blur my foundation and concealer and usually use the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge, so it will be interesting to see how these measure up.
Allegory Story - Lips Gloss
I really am not a lover of lip gloss. I generally find them sticky, so tend to avoid them. This one is in a shade that I doubt I would wear anyway. I think this one will have to be gifted. Retail value $15 USD
Project Beauty - Hairgurt Smoothing Yoghurt Shampoo
Well I use shampoo and I love yoghurt, so I should like this. The one I received was strawberry and banana and it does smell like that. I’m not really sure how I feel about my hair smelling of that, but we will see. Retail value $10 USD.
OFRA Cosmetics - Rodeo Drive Highlighter
This highlighter seemed to get quite a few positive vibes when it was announced it would be included in Boxycharm. I generally like OFRA products, but this highlighter is very gold in colour and might suit someone with a darker, warmer complexion than me. Retail Value $35.00 USD
Measurable Difference - Concealer Palette
This palette contains 16 shades of concealer, which for a makeup artist is great, but for an individual, I’m not so sure. As a makeup artist I could certainly use most of the shades on clients but for an everyday makeup junkie, I’m not sure how much use they could get from it. Of course it could be used for other things such as contouring, highlighting etc. I am not sure of the quality of this as it retails for just $19.99 USD which suggests it really isn’t a pro palette as it suggests on the box. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and try it out though.
After the delight at last months box, I am a little disappointed with this one. The contour palette may or may not be a good thing, it all depends on the quality. I will use the sponges and will give the shampoo a try. As for the highlighter and the lip gloss, they really aren’t my cup of tea and not really in my ideal shades, so I may well gift these to a friend. Overall, not the best Boxycharm I have received, but the value of $116 makes the $21 expenditure worth it, and there’s always next month….
