My August 2017 Boxycharm Unboxing
I was eager to get my August Boxycharm after a three-month hiatus due to moving home. This one arrived much later than normal and even spent a week in customs, but at last , I have my hands on it.
This months theme is Beach Please, so I decided to take it litterally and added my bikini to the mix!
As you can see, there are some great goodies in this Boxycharm, so lets take a closer look.
Royal & Langnickel - Moda Pro 3-Piece Brush Set
The first item I'll take a look at is the set of brushes that are supplied by Royal & Langnickel. Now, I am a fan of this brand and have their S.I.L.K Pro 12PC Natural Brush Set - read the review here. The brushes in Boxycharm are from the Moda Pro range which will be available soon. They are a much more affordable set of brushes than the S.I.L.K. Pro range, but I am still impressed with them.
The largest of the brushes is the BMX-130 Pointed Blush. This is incredibly soft and definitely compares well to my S.I.L.K. Pro equivalent. It is very fluffy and seems to hold powder blush well and distributes well. This will definitely be added to my admittedly huge brush collection.
The second brush is the BMX-250 Chisel which can be used to apply highlighter or contour. I do not have an equivalent of this brush, so another to add to my collection.
The last brush is the BMX-430 Crease brush which can be used to define and blend the crease or buff over the lid. Again this brush is very soft and fluffy and compares well to my S.I.L.K.Pro brush.
This three-piece set retails for $26 USD and considering the equivalent brushes from my S.I.L.K. range would cost around $65 USD, these are really good brushes at a really good price. I'm very impressed.
Bellapierre - Waterproof Gel Eyeliner
This is a black eyeliner in a gel format that I normally like, but I'm not overly impressed with this one so far. The first time I tried to use it to do the swatch for this review, the tip fell off. I sharpened it and it fell off again. Maybe I have one that has been broken down the core and so will keep breaking, I'm not sure. But first impressions are poor for this one, sorry! Retail price $15 USD.
PUR Cosmetics - Pro Eyelashes
I've never received eyelashes in a beauty box before, so quite excited for these. They appear incredibly long which for a glasses wearer like me, might be difficult to wear. I haven't tried them yet, but I will and will then do a separate review. They are made from cruelty-free silk and are durable for up to 30 uses. Retail price $14 USD.
The Beauty Crop - Grlpwr Liquid Lipstick
This is a matte liquid lipstick in the shade of Date Night which is described as an intensely pigmented liquid lipstick that is life-proof with serious staying power! It is enriched with Shea Butter and Vitamin E and they say that it doesn’t cake, flake or dry out. Retail cost $14.95 USD.
Tarte Cosmetics - Rainforest of the Sea: Volume II
This is the long awaited for eyeshadow palette in this month's Boxycharm and I am not disappointed, The Tarte Rainforst of the Sea palettes are very popular, but as yet I have resisted the urge to buy, so was very happy to get this in my Boxycharm.
This is a neutral palette of eight shades of creamy powder in cool tones. There are four mattes and four luster shades in a pretty compact complete with mirror. I will review this separately complete with swatches at a later date. Retail $36 USD. Full review here.
I am hugely happy with my August 2017 Boxycharm. The Tarte eyeshadow palette will be a great addition to my makeup collection as will the Royal & Langnickel brushes. I am looking forward to trying out the lashes and the lipstick, but I think the eyeliner is a lost cause. Overall my box was worth $106 USD, so well worth the $21 it actually cost me.
