My Holiday Makeup Bag
I have just come back from a short trip to the Adirondacks in New York with my husband. It was a great break and we had a great time, but the decisions I had to make before we left were very taxing! After all, what makeup does a girl have to take on holiday and what can stay behind?
Well, after much consideration I came up with a plan and these are the products I decided to take with me. These are just the makeup products, not skin care, that is a whole other post! Click on any of the highlighted products to see full reviews.
First off I had to take primers for both my face and eyes, so I took my holy grails: Too Faced Primed & Poreless and NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. I knew that as long as I had these primers my makeup would stay in place and I could concentrate on enjoying myself.
For my face products, I took my Kat von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation which is a great foundation for my skin and one which helps to keep my oiliness at bay. It lasts forever so I knew I would not need to touch it up during the day. I also took my Face Atelier concealer duo, just to even out my skin tone. I don’t always use this as the KVD foundation covers really well, but I took it just in case.
Next was my Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder that I use to set my foundation. I love this powder, it is so fine and really works at keeping foundation and concealer etc in place. Then I packed my Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette and the NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette. With these two palettes, I can contour and highlight my face beautifully. For my blush, I took my ever faithful NARS Orgasm which quite honestly you cannot go wrong with.
I debated long and hard over which of my two favorite eye palettes to take, the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette or the Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette. I really didn’t want to take both and ended up taking Laura Mercier. This palette has a range of both neutrals and purples, my two favourites, so I knew I could achieve several looks with this one palette. My Marcelle Ultimate Lash mascara was next, followed by Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Promade. I did not take a separate liner as my eyeshadow doubles up for this purpose.
Of course, I had to take a lippy and decided to take another favourite of mine Bite Agarve Lip Mask as I knew this would not only give a little colour to my lips but also keep them moist and protected. I also pack my Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray as it was going to be hot and I didn't’ want my makeup sliding off my face. The other extras I took were a selection of brushes, my Tweezerman lash curlers and my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.
So there you have it, my makeup product list for a short break. It probably looks a lot, but I did use each and every item and didn’t feel that I was without anything, so I think I did a great job! Now I have to ask - why have I got all the other stuff if I can make do with this? Ha, stupid question, you can never, ever have enough makeup.
