The secret to good makeup, plan, plan, plan!

The secret to good makeup, plan, plan, plan!

If like me, you have a lot of makeup and you forget what you have when you got it and when it needs throwing away, you need a makeup planner!

Over the years, I have collected a lot of makeup and brushes etc. Now, whilst I have no problem with owning all this makeup, what woman does, I do have issues with knowing when things should be thrown away and where I bought something I want to replace. But, my biggest issue of all, is simply keeping track of what I have and what I think about certain products.

Did that lipstick transfer?
What was the staying power of that blush?
Did I really like that foundation or not?
Does that purple shadow really look that purple on the eyes?
Did that mascara make my lashes look longer?
Is lipstick 'A' more expensive per oz than lipstick 'B'?

The list of questions goes on, so I decided to make myself a makeup inventory. Now I know there are various apps available and of course, you can always design a spreadsheet, but these did not address my needs.

I wanted something that I could keep near my vanity for quick reference and editing. I wanted something that I could put swatches on if needed, especially with things like nail polish and lipstick. I wanted to be able to add notes as I used a product so that I could refer back to it at a later date. I also wanted to know how much a product was costing me, not just the initial retail price, but the price per ml or oz so that I could see what was good value and what wasn't.

I also realized that each product has its own requirements. For instance, with mascara, I wanted to be able to note if a particular product did, in fact, curl, lengthen or thicken my lashes. Was it a waterproof, tubing or fiber mascara? All things relevant to mascara, but completely useless for say, lipstick!

So, enough rambling, this is what I came up with. A set of makeup inventory sheets that I can print off and fill in and keep in a binder by my vanity. Having now used these successfully, I decided to offer them to other beauty lovers, like you.

These are now available from my Etsy store and they come in six pretty colours and all have fun illustration and plenty of space to jot down your thoughts and feelings about different products and add swatches if you want.

Each set comes with 12 sheets that can be printed off as often as you need:

  • Mascara
  • Brows
  • Eyeliner
  • Highlighter
  • Contour
  • Blush
  • Foundation
  • Eyeshadow
  • Lips
  • Brushes
  • Nail Polish

And don't worry if you don't have access to a colour printer, they all print just fine as black and white too.

If you need a makeup inventory planner just as much as me, then please pop over to my Etsy Store and pick a colour. You will get all 12 sheets in both A4 and US Letter sizes, all for just $12 CND.
